Tahitian Pearl Collection
Tahitian pearls are cultured and grown in the atolls surrounding
Tahiti in the French Polynesian Islands.  The scientific name is
Pinctada margaretifera or black lipped oyster and can grow to
almost 12 inches in diameter and weigh 11 pounds.  Tahitian
pearls are natural in color and range from light silver gray to
deep black.  They range in size from 8mm to 16mm.  Tahitian
pearls over 14mm are considered to be very large and rare.

Tahitian pearls are sold from pearl farms using the A, B, C, D, grading
system.  For the convenience of our customers, we have converted the
grading to the Akoya system of AAA, AA+, AA, and A.   The House of
Pearls will never use the fictitious grades of AAA+ or AAAA.  To view the
